is a useful descriptive term coined to refer to people’s experience of Profound Unilateral Hearing Loss where there is a total loss of hearing on one side, either right or left this term is descriptive both of the person with Profound Unilateral Hearing Loss and those who might communicate with him or her given that the loss of hearing on one side is total rather than a diminuition.
